GMB members vote again to reject plans to attack terms & conditions.
For the second time in a month GMB members have voted overwhelmingly to reject proposals by Sandwell Leisure Trust, which would result in a below nationally balloted pay offer and to end NJC terms and conditions.
The results were fed back to the board following a meeting with management and GMB along with sister Trade Unions are bitterly disappointed that the Trust board have responded to advise that they are ploughing ahead and have ignored the voices of the workforce.
GMB have lodged a formal dispute with Sandwell Leisure Trust and will be balloting members on formal industrial action.
Sarah James, GMB Branch Organiser said “It is shameful that SLT are continuing with these proposals even though GMB members have voted twice to reject the attack on their hard won terms and conditions and illustrates a serious error of judgement by the Trust.
The employer says that they value their workforce, a workforce that have created an award winning service for the people of Sandwell but are showing them no respect by ignoring their voices. Our members want to get back to doing what they do best, but also deserve to be treated fairly and we have no option but to enter into formal dispute”
GMB are ready to negotiate with the employer and through ACAS to avoid industrial action and reach a satisfactory conclusion for members. However, we stand ready to support our members through Industrial Action if required.
