Over 84% of GMB members working at Sandwell Leisure Trust have voted in favour of Industrial Action
After Sandwell Leisure Trust refused to discuss a pay claim put forward by GMB, Unison and Unite members at the end of 2021, members across all 9 sites operated by the Trust undertook an Industrial ballot which has returned an overwhelming majority in favour of taking action over pay.
Sarah James, Branch Equality Officer said: This result sends a clear message to the SLT management and the Trust board – GMB members have had enough.
Whilst providing a valuable lifestyle service to the people of Sandwell, staff are drowning under the cost of living and it’s time that our members are paid a fair wage.
GMB along with sister Unions will be meeting with members to decide next steps shortly, but we urge Sandwell Leisure Trust to come to the table with a decent pay offer to avoid strikes over the next few months.
